Travel Insurance provides coverage for unexpected events such as accidents and travel-related inconveniences such as lost luggage and travel delays. Lion Air Travel Insurance is exclusively designed with Lion Air passengers in mind and is only available when traveling on Lion Air
This travel insurance product is underwritten by PT Chartis Insurance Indonesia (Chartis).
How can I buy Lion Air Travel Insurance?
At the moment, you can only purchase Lion Air Travel Insurance on lionair.co.id for Indonesia-originating flights. Simply add travel insurance to your itinerary while you’re booking your flights online

Who is eligible to buy Lion Air Travel Insurance?
Lion Air Travel Insurance is available to passengers who are:
- 75 years old or below
- Flying out of Indonesia
- Traveling for less than thirty (30) days
Are you travelling with an infant? Don't worry, infants are covered for free if they are travelling with an insured adult. Please refer to our full terms and conditions to learn more about our free coverage for infants.
What are the different plans under Lion Air Travel Insurance?
Lion Air Travel Insurance is available in two types of plans. A specific plan is offered to you based on the type of ticket you are purchasing.
- Round-trip Plan
This plan is offered if you are flying round-trip on Lion Air and covers you both while you are in transit with Lion Air and during the time spent at your destination.
- One-way Plan
This plan is offered if you are only flying one-way on Lion Air and covers you from the time you check-in to the time you reach your Lion Air destination.
When does my Lion Air Travel Insurance coverage begin and end?
This is also based on the type of ticket and policy you purchased.
- For Round-trip Plans
Coverage begins upon check-in for your Lion Air departure flight and ends upon your return to your originating airport.
- For One-way Plans
Coverage begins upon check-in for your Lion Air departure flight and ends upon your arrival at your Lion Air flight's destination.
Please note that the Trip Cancellation benefit is effective thirty (30) days before the original departure date or on your purchase date, whichever is later.

Personal Accident Benefit
Lion Air Travel Insurance provides you or your loved ones a lump sum cash payment of up to IDR 500.000.000 (for One-way plans) if you suffer a serious or fatal accident while traveling.
Accident Medical Expenses^
Lion Air Travel Insurance covers medical bills of up to IDR 200.000.000 if you require medical assistance due to an accident while traveling.
Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation^
Lion Air Travel Insurance will bring you home to your loved ones if you get in an accident on your trip.
Felonious Assault^
Lion Air Travel Insurance will compensate you financially if you are assaulted while traveling.
Flight Delay
Lion Air Travel insurance will financially compensate you if your Lion air flight is re-timed for more than 5 hours.
Trip Cancellation
Lion Air Travel Insurance will pay you the non-refundable portion of your Lion Air ticket if you have to cancel your trip due to covered reasons - such as serious injury or death in the family.
Trip Curtailment^
Lion Air Travel Insurance will pay you the non-refundable portion of your Lion Air ticket if you have to cut your trip short due to covered reasons - such as serious injury or death in the family.
Baggage Loss & Damage

Lion Air Travel Insurance protects you from liability to third parties caused by your negligence.
24-Hour Emergency Medical Assistance^

Does Baggage Loss & Damage include theft?
Yes, Lion Air Travel Insurance covers baggage theft and damage to baggage due to theft during a schedule Lion Air flight.
Can I add Lion Air Travel Insurance to my booking if I have a known medical condition?
Yes. You can add Lion Air Travel Insurance to your itinerary even if you have a known medical condition. However, some benefits will not cover these conditions and will be considered "pre-existing". For more details, please view the full terms and conditions of your policy.
If I get sick during my trip, will Lion Air Travel Insurance cover me for hospital and other related expenses?
No, Lion Air Travel Insurance only covers you for accident-related medical expenses while you are traveling. To learn more about your accident medical expense benefit, please view the full terms and conditions of your policy.
Can I cancel my Lion Air flight booking for any reason and get a full refund of my air fare because of the Trip Cancellation Benefit in my Lion Air Travel Insurance policy?
The Trip Cancellation Benefit under your Lion Air Travel Insurance Benefit only covers the non-refundable portion of your Lion Air fare when you cancel your flight booking due to valid insurable reasons such as serious sickness or death in your family that would prohibit you from continuing with your trip. What should I do if I did not receive my Lion Air Travel Insurance Confirmation?
Don’t worry! You don’t need to bring a copy of your Insurance Confirmation on your trip. All you need is your Policy Number and our 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Number +6221 570 7658.
If you would like to receive a copy of your Lion Air Travel Insurance Confirmation, please e-mail us your request including your Full Name, Date of Purchase, Certificate Number (if available), Travel Dates and E-mail Address.
The details of my Lion Air flight booking have changed. What changes are allowed under my Lion Air Travel Insurance policy?
Don’t worry! You don’t need to bring a copy of your Insurance Confirmation on your trip. All you need is your Policy Number and our 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Number +6221 570 7658.
You are allowed to update your travel dates if you change the dates you are flying with Lion Air! This rule applies for changes made before or during your trip.
When you make a change to your flight booking, please don't forget to notify us by e-mailing us your Policy Number, your Lion Air booking number, your Name, Original Travel Dates and Amended Travel Dates.
Important Notes about Changes:
Travel Date Changes
Changes to your policy will only be valid if there were changes made to your Lion Air flight booking.
Shorter Trips
If you are shortening your trip, Lion Air Travel Insurance will not provide you any refunds to differences in premium.
Longer Trips
If you are extending your trip, Lion Air Travel Insurance will only cover you up to the maximum duration in respect to the original date band (1-7, 8-15 or 16-30 days) for which you purchased your policy but will resume cover upon check-in for your return flight.
Shorter Trips
If you are shortening your trip, Lion Air Travel Insurance will not provide you any refunds to differences in premium.
For example, if you were originally flying for five (5) days and extending to eight (8) days: your original policy will continue to cover you up to the 7th day of your trip and will resume upon check-in for your return flight.
Can I cancel my Lion Air Travel Insurance policy?
Yes, you can cancel your Lion Air travel Insurance policy as long as it is done in conjunction with your Lion Air flight booking cancellation. The cancellation must be done prior to your original Departure Date and before you use any of your Lion Air Travel Insurance benefits. To cancel your policy, please send us an e-mail with your Name, Policy Number, Lion Air Booking Number and a copy of your Lion Air flight booking cancellation confirmation.

What should I do if I get into an accident abroad?
Simply call our 24-hour Emergency Assistance hotline (+6221) 570 7658 and we will ensure that you get the necessary assistance. Please don’t forget that you can call the hotline collect to avoid any charges.
If you require hospital treatment, please make sure you keep original copies of your receipts to ensure easy processing of your claim refund payment.
How do I file for a claim?
To file a claim, you can download the Notice of Claim Form online and follow the simple instructions included in the document. For questions about your claim, you can always e-mail us.
Is there a cut off time for filing my claims?
Yes, you have to notify Chartis of your claim no later than thirty (30) days after the occurrence of the claimable event. For questions about your claim, you can always e-mail us.
How long does it take to process my claims?
Chartis will process your claims within fourteen (14) working days following the receipt of all necessary documents.
